12 Days of Anime, Day 12 Final: Favorite Girls of the Year!
If I have a favorite character in a show, it makes me enjoy the show much more. When I say favorite, I mean it in a subjective sense, where you have an emotional tie with the character. Or to put it colloquially, like a waifu but not exclusive nor necessarily as extreme – someone I fangirl over. In addition to the story and the great things of a show, I also look forward to her appearance. I love seeing her smile, I’m interested in knowing more about her, I take screenshots, I hunt for fanart, and I like to see her in happy situations (sad touching scenes are also good, but it hurts). My experience with a show is greatly enriched when I really like one or more of the girls – and yes, my favorite characters are always girls, it’s very rare for me to be emotionally attached to a guy, both 3D and 2D (not impossible though, so if for some weird reason I have a secret male admirer don’t give up ;P ).
Of course, this doesn’t mean that a good show that doesn’t have a character I like is bad, and just because I really like a character doesn’t make a crap show good (though crap shows tend to have crappy characters anyways).
Today I’m introducing you to some of my favorite characters of shows that aired this year! Read the rest of this entry
12 Days of Anime, Day 11: Favorite Songs of the Year!
I love many of the OPs and EDs of anime, and most of the music library I listen to at any given time is made up anime OSTs, followed by Touhou music and a few Vocaloid songs here and there. At any given point in time there’s usually one ‘The Song’ that’s stuck in my head a lot and that I really like, and it changes a lot. These songs aren’t necessarily the best, and even when I have a lot of good songs coming in at the same time only one or two are engraved into my subconscious for the moment. What I’m trying to say is there are many great songs I like that aren’t featured because they happened to come to me with something else that overshadows it at the time.
I was going to start a post series where I right about new ‘The Song’ as they come up, but since I had many of them come and go already I’m going to write about my songs for the year to kick off the series.
Chii also has a post on her favorite OPs and EDs of the year.

12 Days of Anime, Day 10: Azusa’s Wedding Dress? Hi~LARITY! Subversion of Believable Plot
At the time of writing this post, I JUST finished the 8th episode of The iDOLM@STER. This is the most enjoyable, fun, and hilarious single episode of anime I’ve watched in a really long time! Even if you’re not a fan of The iDOLM@STER, you should at least watch just this episode for all the hilarity =)
The episode starts of with Azusa, Makoto and Miki having a photoshoot for a wedding magazine, with Azusa looking OH SO BEAUTIFUL in her graceful wedding dress.
If you haven’t heard, Azusa’s my second favorite character closely behind Takane <3 Read the rest of this entry
12 Days of Anime, Day 9: BAKA OUJI!!!!!!!
One of the most underrated anime of the year, Level E wasn’t as popular nor talked about as other shows. But boy, the people who did end up watching it LOVED it. Why? It has TROLLING OF GALACTIC PROPORTIONS. LITERALLY. The Prince Baka (I’M NOT KIDDING HIS NAME REALLY IS BAKA) Ki El Dogra crashed landed on Earth, breaks into the guy’s room, and starts trolling everyone. He’s the prince of a very important planet/empire/something/ish, and if he doesn’t make it to the intergalactic space conference shit will hit the fan and everyone will start killing each other. 12 Days of Anime, Day 7: APPRIVOISE! Ginga Mahou Bishounen!
Oh, Star Driver. It was such a refreshing show, a mecha show that’s not-so-mecha and filled with pretty flashing colors and galactic pretty boys. It was, in all ways, FABULOUS. Takuto’s constantly-positive attitude keeps the show bright, and gets through with defeating the monster-of-the-week through sheer determination – or random new abilities that his girly looking mobile suit Cybody came up with. 12 Days of Anime, Day 6: Sekiha! Love Love TENKYOKEN!
You may have those silver feet, but I’ve got these GOLD FINGERS!
Mobile Fighter G Gundam is definitely one of the most awesome shows I watched this year (yes I never watched it until the summer when I marathoned several Gundam shows), completely ridiculous, over the top, and full of awesome ham. Read the rest of this entry
